The 2024 Canadian Junior Open, held this past weekend at The Club at White Oaks and secondary venue Ridley College, was an extraordinary gathering of talent, bringing together some of the best junior squash players from Canada and around the world. As one of the premier international junior squash events, the competition featured intense matches and outstanding displays of skill and sportsmanship in a world-class setting from over 330 juniors.
Squash Ontario was proud to support and celebrate the achievements of our athletes who competed at this prestigious event. This year saw 3 sets of Ontario siblings competing in the 6 of the 10 finals! Shirley and Jack Chen (Toronto), Wasey and Wali Maqsood (Milton), as well as Obie and Nolan Ryding (Toronto) took to the glass court on Tuesday vying for a national title.
When the dust settled, Wasey Maqsood (BU19), Obie Ryding (BU13) and Nolan Ryding (BU11) reigned victorious! In addition to three titles, Ontario athletes captured 4 silver medals and 4 bronze medals. See below for a list of all the podium finishers. We wish all our athletes competing in the upcoming US, Scottish and British Junior Opens the best of luck.
