about squash ontario

Squash Ontario is a not for profit amateur sport organization responsible for squash within the province of Ontario. It was formed in 1976, and is recognized by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport as the Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) for squash in Ontario. We are responsible for delivering programming province-wide to influence the development of players, coaches, officials, and volunteers.

Dan VanMoorsel, President

2023-2025 Term

Dan has been playing squash for over 40 years, is the owner of the Maple City Squash Club and is an active player in the Southwestern Ontario region. Dan is very passionate about growing the game, helping clubs thrive, and ensuring a strong sense of community through squash.


Simon Chun, Vice President, Finance

2022-2024 Term

Simon Chun is President and Portfolio Manager of YouFirst Financial Inc., a boutique private wealth management firm based in Toronto offering bespoke financial services to business owners, professionals, and high net worth families in Canada.  Simon is a dedicated squash enthusiast, transitioning from over 15 years of recreational play to competing in singles tournaments with Squash Ontario.  Simon's passion for the game extends beyond the court through sponsorship via his firm as well as being proud to serve the members of the squash community on the board of directors as VP Finance with Squash Ontario.


Heather Dart, Vice President

2023-2025 Term

Heather was introduced to squash during a course at University many years ago.  She returned to the squash community about 7 years ago and has really enjoyed her experience playing in various leagues and tournaments across the region and nationally.  She’s looking forward to serving on the board for her second term.


Leah Desbarres, Vice President

2022-2024 Term

Leah lives in Fergus, ON and is the Club Manager & Head Squash Professional at CW Racquets in Elora. She has played squash for nearly 40 years, loves the strategic nature of the sport and the social aspects of the community! 


Naveed Irshad, Vice President

2023-2025 Term

Naveed is President & CEO of Manulife Canada. He has worked in Canada, US and Asia. He is a qualified Actuary with a strong technical, financial background. Naveed is an avid squash player who has played regularly in Montreal, Toronto, Boston and Singapore.


Vinit Kudva, Vice President

2022-2024 Term

Vinit is a software developer by profession who is very passionate about squash. He started his squash journey at the age of 8 with his dad. Through high school he played in various community and city leagues at mostly a recreational level. His competitive career started when he joined the University of Waterloo Varsity Squash Team in his first year. Since then, he has been heavily involved with University squash as a student-athlete, followed by being an assistant coach and now a head coach. He coached at University of Waterloo for a number of years, following which he moved to Ottawa and continued his coaching career at University of Ottawa. He aims to give students a strong technical base to be able to continue playing squash well past their varsity years. 


Natasha Seth, Vice President

2022-2024 Term

Natasha started playing squash at a young age and competed at provincial, national and varsity levels. She is passionate about growing the game of squash and currently runs a junior program in Guelph. She is also working on introducing a squash analytics app at tournaments to improve the viewer experience of the sport. 


COMMITTEES


The standing committees represent a special interest of Squash Ontario. These committees provide expertise, development guidance, monitoring, and sometimes administration of standards, policies and practices of those areas. They represent the best interests of those involved and they promote that special area. As a consequence, Squash Ontario seeks out individuals with the necessary expertise to sit as members of these committees.
