Seven Ontario Athletes Crowned Canadian Champions
Over 390 of Canada’s top squash players participated in the 2022 Oxford Properties Canadian Squash Championships in Vancouver, BC this past weekend. The event took place at five local clubs across the city and the Power Glass Court was erected outside next to the waterfront at Jack Poole Plaza.
The Canadian Championships is always the final event of the season that so many players train throughout the season for. Being the first Senior nationals to take place since COVID-19, it was amazing to see our tight knit community come out to support the event with a total of 27 divisions!
In addition to tournament play, participants and spectators were treated to the latest induction of the Canadian Squash Hall of Fame Commission. Five remarkable individuals were inducted as the Class of 2022 including past and present Ontarians Barbara Cooper, Melanie Jans, Shahier Razik, and Michael Way.
Squash Ontario is beyond proud to announce that FIVE of our athletes were crowned 2022 Canadian Champions, with many more finishing on the podium (full list below). Congratulations to Hollie Naughton (Women’s Open), Julie Hisey (Women’s 55+), Lorraine Tetreault (Women’s 65+), Amin Khan (Men’s U23) and Vincent Taylor (Men’s 80+) on their dominating performances.
We look forward to the season ahead and can’t wait to see you all on the courts!
