Squash Canada is thrilled to announce the triumphant return of National Championship squash competition after 20 difficult months on the sidelines. With the support of title sponsor Oxford Properties and presenting sponsor Slaight Music, squash will bounce back this October in a very special way with an all-glass exhibition court erected in the Yorkdale Shopping Centre, one of Canada’s premier shopping centres in Toronto, Ontario.

The event will see both our Canadian Men’s and Women’s Open Championships and Canadian Junior Championships (Boys and Girls U13, U15, U17 and U19) run simultaneously in a celebration of our national squash community. Canadian stars Hollie Naughton, Danielle Letourneau, Shawn Delierre, Mike McCue, David Baillargeon, Nikole Todd, Nick Sachvie, Nicole Bunyan and Cameron Seth as well as many of Canada’s top juniors will return to competition on home soil for the first time since March 2020.

Hollie Naughton, currently #18 in the PSA World Rankings exclaimed, “The athletes are extremely excited to compete for a National Championship in such an amazing venue with the support of family and friends for the first time in two years. The event will be a very important moment for the community and I’m particularly thrilled to play alongside all of the juniors who deserve to see our sport return in such an impactful way.”

“We are so pleased to be able to bring Canada’s top talent together again to contest national titles and, equally important, to celebrate a return to high level squash competition”, said Dan Wolfenden, Squash Canada Executive Director. “Our athletes have been creative and resilient in maintaining motivation, fitness and skills during this extended hiatus, and October will mark squash’s literal and figurative bounce back. With the support of partners Oxford Properties and Slaight Music we are excited to feature squash in a location that will showcase their resolve and athleticism.”

Squash Canada is cautiously optimistic that the COVID situation continues to improve, full protocols and contingencies will be in place for the event. This includes limited fields in all draws with a qualification process and adherence to the most up to date national, provincial, and local health regulations.

Squash Canada extends its sincere thanks to Oxford Properties, Slaight Music as well event partners Squash Ontario and Urban Squash Toronto for kickstarting Squash’s BOUNCE BACK to the courts.
