Adopt a School to Support Operation OFSAA

Squash Ontario has launched Operation OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations) with the goal of having squash achieve full OFSAA status by 2022. This initiative will be the catalyst for the greatest participation increase in Squash Ontario history and will be a critical springboard to feed our existing programs and member clubs. Operation OFSAA aims to provide every high school student in the province with access to the sport of squash -- through their schools -- by 2022.

Squash Ontario is partnering with OFSAA to make the 2020 Jim Mason Cup, the annual high school invitational, an officially sanctioned event. To reach full OFSAA status, this event must include 60 high school squash teams annually. In 2019, 32 schools ran high school programs with 18 teams competing in the Jim Mason Cup. Our goal is to add at least 10 schools in each of the next 3 seasons, reaching 60 teams by 2022.

To help launch new high school squash programs, nine enterprising student leaders, from Windsor to Sudbury to Ottawa, demonstrated their commitment and passion to start squash programs in their high schools and were each the successful recipients of $500 bursaries offered by Squash Ontario. They are keen to share their love of this great sport with their high school peers and are committed to bringing their school teams to the OFSAA sanctioned Jim Mason Cup in April 2020. Congratulations to the following students for bringing squash to their schools: Gabe Van Moorsel, Chatham; Robert de la Riva, Sudbury; Julie Do, Toronto; Max Shewchenko, Ottawa; Adam Voisey, Sarnia; Adrian Sejdijaj, Toronto; Xavier Lamb, Ottawa; Duncan Whyte, Orangeville and Keira Rawlins, Toronto.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

To meet these ambitious Operation OFSAA goals, we are currently seeking donations for the Adopt-A-School program which will see the launch of brand new squash teams (supporting court rentals, equipment, coaching fees, transportation costs, etc.). All Adopt-A-School donations will be processed through the Squash Ontario Lee Hanebury Junior Squash Fund and donors will be issued a charitable tax receipt.
