Team Ontario will be taking Regina by storm this weekend at the 2023 Canadian Men’s and Women’s Teams Championships, after a 2-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be the first time since 2018 that the men and women’s events will run in tandem at the same venue. Our teams will be going into the event as the number one seeds.
Team Ontario will be searching for back-to-back National Team Titles in the women’s division, while the men will be looking for a three peat. Our men’s team is comprised of Cory McCartney, Ben Pitfield and Cameron Butler. Niki Shemirani, Khaaliqa Nimji and Vanessa Steinwall will be representing for the women’s team.
When asked by Squash Canada about his anticipated participation, Cory McCartney stated: “I’m very excited to captain Team Ontario in my first Canadian Men’s Teams Championship. As squash players, we don’t often get the chance to compete as a team. For this reason, I’m really looking forward to this event and grateful to represent Ontario along with Ben Pitfield and Cameron Butler.”
Best of luck to Team Ontario and we look forward to following along all weekend!
