Dream team duo of actor Ryan Reynolds and hockey sensation Hayley Wickenheiser have partnered to spotlight the Conquer COVID-19 organization that sprang up quickly to help supply healthcare and front line workers with equipment to limit the spread of the virus. This organization is working tirelessly to raise funds, secure all kinds of equipment (masks, ventilators, baby monitors, tablets, diapers, formula, face shields, etc.), and then deliver the supplies to the communities in need.
Earlier in the month squash parent Catherine Orcutt made the connection with the medical community that eye guards are helpful for doctors requiring a fuller range of motion and facilitated an initial donation that was put to good use. Squash Ontario has since partnered with Conquer COVID-19 to get the word out to our community that we can be of service! We will be dropping off 50 pairs of eye guards to the Conquer COVID-19 drop off station in Toronto on Saturday, and encourage those that are able to support this amazing organization to help out as well.
There are three ways you can support this organization:
Drop off or ship your equipment to the Donation Centre
Donate to Conquer COVID-19
Donate to Squash Ontario towards the purchase of eye guards at cost from our suppliers. Eye guard purchases will take place next Friday and will be delivered to Conquer COVID-19 by May 1st.
We are hopeful that any efforts to minimize the spread of the virus, such as providing protective equipment to front line workers, will help get us back to the courts and business as usual. As always, we hope everyone in the squash community are taking care and we look forward to seeing you all again soon!
