Excitement is building around the province as high school squash teams gear up for the biggest Jim Mason High School Teams Tournament yet which is just 6 weeks away!

In northwest Toronto, team leader Julie Do is cheering on her Northview Heights Secondary School team, which hits the courts at least once a week at Urban Squash Toronto. She’s prepping a team of 10 players, which includes 2 raw beginners and a few intermediate players. Julie says they used some of the funding provided by Squash Ontario to purchase team shirts, pictured above.

In midtown Toronto, team leader Adrian Sejdijaj is helping his Marshall McLuhan teammates hone their skills at Goodlife Dunfield (Yonge/Eglinton) where his team of 7 has been practicing twice weekly.

Malvern Collegiate, a perennial competitor in the Jim Mason Cup, is undeterred that graduation claimed the school’s experienced squash players! Grant Hutchison has rallied a new crew of keen squashers and is looking to send 3 emerging teams (15 players) to this year’s tournament.

In the southwest corner of the province, Ursuline College in Chatham is readying for its first venture into the Jim Mason Cup. Student leader Gabe VanMoorsel has rounded up a couple of experienced players and a “new crop of kids excited about learning the game”. They are training at the nearby Maple City Squash Club.
