Each year a few individuals from the squash community are recognized at the Squash Ontario Annual General Meeting for their tireless (often volunteer) work for the game. This past weekend Chris Campbell was presented with the Outstanding Achievement Award thanks to his role administering the South Western Ontario Squash League. Chris organizes, budgets, establishes rules, adjudicates disputes, arranges the playoff and end of year party, and so much more.
In his nomination, Frank Pyka mentions “the league would not be where it is today without Chris's ongoing time and commitment over many years; 29 teams and 225 players from London, Sarnia and Woodstock competing over 6 1/2 months for team championships in four divisions. The league promotes interest, dedication, and social connections. We have more than a league - we have a squash community.”
Chris was presented his award at the London Squash & Fitness Club in the middle of the 2018 Nash Cup. The Nash Cup is both a Professional Squash Association and amateur event that highlights the London squash community each year, and made news as the Women’s PSA purse was increased to $20,000 this year, alongside the $10,000 Men’s purse.
