This year the BDO T&D Men’s Squash League held their winter finals on March 29th at the Mayfair Lakeshore Club. This was a great evening of squash competition with five divisions playing for the championship of their league. An enthusiastic crowd of supporters witnessed some great squash play displayed by the teams in the finals. Divisions I through IV are five man teams playing in the ranking order of 3,5,1,4,2 while the Masters Div II played in the order 3,1,4,2.
In Division I, Mayfair Parkway were up against a strong team from Toronto Athletic Club. After a long 5 game match won by TAC at the 3 position, Mayfair came back and won the number 5 position match to tie the overall final. However, TAC dominated the last 3 matches and won the title 4 matches to 1. Congratulations to our Division I winners Matt Serediak, Mohanad Hekal, Francisco Mendez, Neel Ismail and Nikhil Ismail from Toronto Athletic Club !
In Division II, Toronto Cricket battled their old rivals from the Granite Club. Granite jumped out to a two match lead winning at number three and five positions. However Toronto Cricket came storming back and won the next three matches in convincing fashion to capture the Division II title. Well done, Rob Cooley, Rob Hang, Jamie Herman, Alex Dorbyk, Andrew Guilfoyle and the rest of the team from Toronto Cricket!
In Division III, Mississauga Community Centre competed against their rivals from One Health. One Health were off to a fast start winning the first two matches. The match between the number one rank players was a real barn burner with Alfred Tu winning the fourth game 22-20 and going on to outlast Stephen Waselenko from One Health 3 games to 2. However, the number four player from One Health sealed the victory by defeating his opponent 3 games to 1. Well done, One Health our Div III champs, Stephen Waselenko, Louis Petrovic, Jason Estevan, Chris Timmins and Mike Maiola.
In Division IV, Goodlife Club One played a team from Richmond Hill. All the matches were hotly contested with Club One coming out on top 4 matches to one. Well played our Div IV champs from Club One, Omar Salem, Martin Kouschlev, Sami Garib, Eric Chan and Youssef Escander !
Finally in the Masters Div II, Goodlife Club One were up against Executive Squash & Fitness. Club One had to default a match at the four position but easily handled the three other matches and defeated their opponents 3 matches to 1 and win the Masters title. Congratulations to One Health and their team of Rudy Goodridge, Michel Robitaille, Ray Sankar, Bill Daly.
