Tournament: 2024 Heidelberg Materials Ontario Championships Presented by NFP Canada

Dates: October 25-27 (please note matches will start as early as 5pm Friday and may go until mid-late afternoon Sunday)

Registration Deadline: October 16, 2024

Divisions: Open, A, B, C, D, E

  • Registration is first come, first served except for the Open division, which will be based on club locker rankings

  • Draws will be limited to 16

  • draws with less than 4 players will be combined

  • $4k prize money total between the Men's and Women's Open events

  • All matches must be played to be paid prize money in the Open

Once registration is closed, we will open draws up to include waitlisted players IF court time allows for it. Waitlisted players who do not get a spot in the draw will receive a full refund!

Host Venue: Pickering Squash Club

Entry Fee: $104.50 + HST (register before September 8th for early bird entry fee of $94.50 plus hst)

Entry includes tournament souvenir, Friday night samosas, Saturday Lunch, 3 matches guaranteed. Licensed bar and no towel service at this venue.

Start Times: Will be published by end of day on Wednesday and draws will be posted by end of day on the Thursday, the week of the tournament. Requests to change or specific start times cannot be accommodated due to the nature of the event.

Women's Social & Seminar Supported by Heidelberg Materials: We are overjoyed to have received the support of Heidelberg Materials to enhance the women's side of this event, furthering our goals to increase women's participation across all squash tournaments in Ontario. Late Saturday afternoon (timing to be determined), we welcome all female participants to join us for a "Competing in Squash" seminar and social hosted by Marci Sier with some extra treats provided. All efforts will be made to schedule matches around this seminar, which will culminate with feature Open matches to watch! Stay tuned for more details. 

Eyeguards must be worn by all players at Ontario Championships. Please be prepared to wear these for all your matches. Officials will be monitoring the use of eyewear

Refunds: any withdrawals before the entry deadline will receive a refund less 15% admin fee. Any withdrawals after the entry deadline will not receive a refund

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND DIVISION RECOMMENDATIONS

If a person has won an Ontario A, B, C, or D Championship, they must move up to the next level in A, B, C, D events. To be reinstated at a preferred level, the individual must sit out one full year and apply for classification review by the appropriate Squash Ontario staff/committee.

Athletes must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant and have resided in Ontario for 12 months to participate in the Ontario Closed.

Squash Ontario Recommended Division Play Based off of Ratings

Men’s Open – players should be 5.9 or higher

Men’s A – players should be 6.0 or lower

Men’s B – players should be 5.25 or lower

Men’s C – players should be 4.5 or lower

Men’s D – players should be 3.75 or lower

Men’s E – players should be 3.25 or lower

Women’s Open – players should be 4.8 or higher

Women’s A – players should be 4.8 or lower

Women’s B – players should be 4.15 or lower

Women’s C – players should be 3.5 or lower

Women’s D – players should be 2.85 or lower

Women’s E – players should be 2.25 or lower
