Squash Camp & University Info Workshop

  • Squash Ontario 2275 Bayview Avenue Toronto, ON, M4N 3M6 (map)

Please see the note below from the team at Toronto Athletic Club who are partnering with Ferry Path Education to do a squash camp and Sunday seminar for athletes who want to learn about becoming a student-athlete after their junior careers come to an end.

We hope that you are having a great start to the squash season and school year. As you head into another busy fall, we know that many of you will begin to consider your academic options beyond high school. Whether university applications are imminent, or still a couple of years away, it is never too early to begin researching your options. Properly informed and well organised elite athletes put themselves in the best position to matriculate at the university of their choosing. Now is the time to begin planning.

To this end, we have developed a three-day squash camp and university informational workshop from October 25-27 to get you thinking about the recruitment path to top universities. The 3-day squash camp will offer a small group of high-performance athletes the chance to develop under some of Canada’s top players. In addition to court time, you will have the opportunity to learn about the university options available to you as an elite squash player, as well as how you can make attending your dream school a reality.

The Sunday educational component of the camp will be run by Sally Butler, Managing Partner of Ferry Path Education. Sally has over a decade of experience working with high-achieving students and student-athletes on their respective paths to top universities around the world. After completing her undergraduate degree at Princeton University, where she also played Varsity Ice Hockey, Sally went on to study at Columbia University in New York and the University of Cambridge in the UK. Sally will speak to student-athletes on Sunday morning about what it takes to be a competitive recruit and gain admission to prestigious schools in the US, Canada, and UK. In her presentation, Sally will discuss recruiting engagement & timelines, SAT/ACT planning, AP testing, curricular course selection, and elements of university applications like personal statements and reference letters. After Sally’s talk, students will participate in a goal-building exercise, followed by a Q&A session with head coaches of the squash programs at Princeton University, Columbia University, and Williams College. This event will take place at the Toronto Athletic Club, however we will also live broadcast over Zoom for those students who are unable to attend in person.
