EVENT INFORMATION

Tournament Chair: Manu Dutt, Head Squash Professional at Mayfair Lakeshore

Tournament Referee: Darrin Manley & Andres Orozco

The Gold and Provincial Championship events are the highest level of competition offered in Ontario with Girls and Boys Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, Under 17, and Under 19 divisions offered. These circuits are geared towards high performance juniors.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this event will have an 8-person limit on each division. As such, this event will be an invitation-only event for players ranked 1 through 8 in their age divisions in the Ontario rankings. Eligible players will be notified via email with instructions on registering.

The following event format will be in place temporarily, due to COVID-19 restrictions:

  • All Junior Gold and Provincial Championships will be 2-day tournaments with 8 player draws (this will be the case until club capacity limits are lifted and we feel it is safe to do so). Events will take place on Saturday and Sunday, with a later Sunday finish time.

  • To limit the number of people in the club at any given time, younger age groups will play their matches in the morning time slots each day with the older age groups will play in the afternoons. There will be NO time requests or changes at these events.

  • Squash Ontario now has a competitions vaccine policy. Click here and read in full. Players who provide proof of full vaccination will be able to play without a mask on court. Those who are unable to get the vaccine, who do not wish to supply proof, or who are not fully vaccinated yet, will have to wear a level 3 mask on court (this includes u11 and u13 athletes). Players should email their proof of vaccination to tournaments@squashontario.com. Vaccine receipts can be located at this link.

  • Off court, all players and spectators must wear a mask in the club, regardless of vaccination status.

  • If a player is not eligible to play in this event, they may sign up for the waitlist to fill any last minute openings by emailing tournaments@squashontario.com using the email title “Junior Gold #1 Waitlist”.

  • Squash Ontario will now have sanitization protocols in place during the tournament.

  • Meals will no longer be supplied at tournaments. Players will be able to purchase food and beverage from club restaurants, but we will only have certain age groups in the tournament bubble for allotted times throughout the tournament. Souvenirs, medals and prizes will still be given out.

  • As always, start times go out Wednesday evening and draws are posted Thursday evening, the week of the tournament.

2021 CANADIAN JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS WILDCARD SELECTION PROCESS

Squash Canada has announced the 2021 Canadian Junior Squash Championships will be held October 21st 24th in Toronto, Ontario in conjunction with the Canadian Senior Championships (Open Division).

Due to COVID-19, draws will be limited to a maximum of 16 athletes per category (not including a U11 division) which will serve as a pilot for future events. The top 10 rated and eligible athletes based on Squash Canada Club Ratings as of July 15th, 2021 have been invited to participate.

In addition, Ontario has been awarded one wildcard entry per division. As Squash Canada requires wildcard submissions by then end of September, the Junior Advisory Committee (JAC) has decided to choose the wildcard entries based off Club Locker ratings after the September 22nd rankings are published. This will include Gold 1 results.

The top ranked player eligible to fill the wildcard spot in each division will be contacted by September 24th to see if they would like to participate in the Canadian Squash Championships.
