We are thrilled to share some exciting news that reflects our ongoing commitment to inclusivity and community engagement. Recently, Squash Ontario has successfully supported four groundbreaking programs designed to make our sport more accessible and welcoming to all. These programs include the Newcomer to Canada and Mixed Abilities, aimed at fostering diversity and inclusion within our squash community.
Newcomer to Canada Programs
Welcoming New Canadians to Squash!
Our Newcomer to Canada programs were designed to introduce the sport of squash to recent immigrants and refugees, providing them with a unique opportunity to engage in a healthy, social, and fun activity. These programs are more than just an introduction to the sport; they offer newcomers a chance to build connections, improve their physical fitness, and feel a sense of belonging in their new communities.
Participants have expressed overwhelming enthusiasm and gratitude, highlighting how these programs have helped them integrate into Canadian society and find a supportive community through squash. We are proud to see these new members flourish both on and off the court.
"Thank you so much for the amazing lessons and especially for the racquet and accessories. I'm so proud to be part of this squash family." - Anonymous Program Participant
Mixed Abilities Squash Program
Celebrating Diversity in Abilities!
The Mixed Abilities Squash Program focused on making squash accessible to individuals of all abilities, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the sport. These programs are tailored to meet the needs of participants with varying physical and cognitive abilities, providing a supportive environment where everyone can thrive.
By fostering an inclusive atmosphere, these programs have helped break down barriers and promote understanding and camaraderie among players of different abilities. The joy and sense of achievement seen in participants is a testament to the power of inclusivity in sports.
Join us in celebrating and thanking our hosts, who made these programs come to life:
Kitt Hanley & Kevin Smith of Ajax Community Centre
Alison Le Ber & Kitt Hanley, at Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex in Pickering
Frank Pyka & Jeremy Frank, at the Central London YMCA
Joanna Phang & Kristen McFall, at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated coaches, volunteers, and community partners who have played a crucial role in the success of these programs. Your passion and commitment are the driving force behind these positive changes. We would also like to thank Squash Canada for their contribution via the Community Sport for All Initiative.
