Last weekend, 70 junior athletes switched things up and took to the doubles courts at the Granite Club for the 2024 OSDL and Jesters Ontario Junior Doubles Championships. As always, this event is a great opportunity to introduce our high performance juniors to the game of doubles! It is great to see players who are typically battling it out on the singles court, team up for the weekend.
We see many of our now “older” juniors compete in this event year after year and get to see their improvement over time. But on the flip side, this tournament also exposes many of our newer players to doubles, who are playing it competitively for the first time!
Former Doubles World Champion and tournament chair Jessica DiMauro went above and beyond to ensure the weekend was a great experience for all. With help from sponsors OSDL, Jesters of Ontario, Harrow, Slaight Music and the Cambridge Group of Clubs, all players received a quality souvenir and meals throughout the weekend. Not to mention an AMAZING prize raffle on finals Sunday!
Participants were spoiled to have qualified doubles referees throughout the weekend, with thanks to tournament referee Tim Mallory and his team.
