Newest Provincial Champions Crowned at the 2023 Ontario Doubles Championships

2023 Ontario Doubles Championships

We are officially in the heart of Provincials season, and this past weekend’s 2023 Ontario Doubles Championships kicked off the first of three consecutive championships in a row. The tournament took place at Mayfair Parkway, Markham. Over 70 participants from across Ontario took part in an amazing weekend filled with competitive matches, team outfits and rowdy crowds!

Players were competing for titles in Men’s & Women's A, B, C, and Open Divisions. As the Men’s Open Leggat-Lawrence trophy attests, this event has been happening annually since 1961. Last year’s Open champions Nikki Todd, Will Mariani and Cole Osborne successfully defended their titles, with Nikki pairing back up with her 2021 title partner, Lauren Sachvie, to have their names etched on the Sue Swift Memorial Trophy.

A huge shout out to the tournament chair Cory McCartney and our tournament official, Robert Dubé, who ensured that there was a referee for every match. Without them the weekend would not have ran as smoothly as it did!
