The Canadian Masters Team is gearing up to head to Wroclaw, Poland to compete in the 2022 WSF World Masters Championships starting August 21st through to the 27th. The Hasta La Vista Center in Wroclaw is the host club for the championship and is the largest squash club in the world with 33 squash courts.
The World Masters began in 1991 in Auckland, New Zealand as the first global tournament for mature players. It has continued to grow in popularity with the 2018 World Masters in Charlottesville, USA with 755 players from around the globe. This year the best squash players over the age of 35 will gather and compete in Poland for the title of World Masters Champion.
“Our contingent for the 2022 event in Poland of 11 players spans many age categories, and we’ll be striving for podium finishes and progress in the Nations Cup portion of the Championships. Personally, I find these World Masters events to be the pinnacle to strive towards in fitness preparation and squash competition. World Masters brings together literally hundreds of like-minded squash enthusiasts from around the globe, to unique locations, where friendships form, and rivalries are challenged. There is no question that there is one common driver in us all…its that fiery competitive spirit that gets ignited in the long countdown towards the first day of the event. This Canadian team plans to go deep into the draws over the course of the seven days, and we thank you for your interest and support along the way.” – Steve Wren (QC)
