Each season Squash Ontario asks our community to nominate deserving players or volunteers across the province who exemplify the special qualities associated with each of our awards. We are exceptionally fortunate to attract dedicated, committed and enthusiastic people to the squash community, and it is our honour to acknowledge these exceptional recipients.
Nominations are now open on our website for the awards described below. Recipients will be recognized at the Squash Ontario’s Annual General Meeting. If you know someone who is deserving of any of these awards, please submit a nomination at this link no later than August 28th, 2023.
The Barbara Cooper Award is awarded each year to an individual in Ontario who has over the years built, promoted and enhanced the game of women’s squash. This person exhibits fair play, as well as demonstrates leadership and achievement in both their competitive and social life. This person is an inspirational role model for others to follow.
Honouring a man who left an indelible mark on the game of squash in so many areas, the Simon Warder Officiating Achievement Award was created by friends who recognized Simon’s love of and involvement in the officiating side of squash. In the memory of Simon Warder, this award is given to an Ontario official who has earned the respect of the players and their peers; who seeks opportunities to upgrade their skills; who is committed to mentoring others, and who represents the game and profession of officiating with integrity and fairness.
The Squash Ontario Outstanding Achievement Award is given to individuals who volunteered, coached, officiated, or contributed to the game that was over and above what was expected of them. The game of squash thrives when there is growth at the local and regional levels. These individuals have committed themselves to this sport and the game has reached more people or reached a higher level because of these individuals.
