This past weekend we saw the first Ontario Open Championship take place since 2019, three years off due to the world wide pandemic. Players and spectators were treated to a true Men’s Open with both semi-finals being an Ontario-Quebec standoff, and a fun Women’s Open with vets of the game against top junior athletes. It was great to be back!

The tournament was held at Mayfair Lakeshore under the strong leadership of our Tournament Director Manu Dutt (and Men’s 30/40 bronze medalist) and Tournament Referee Darrin Manley and his team for their hard work throughout the weekend. Both played a crucial part in ensuring that the tournament was run smoothly and efficiently.

This event also featured a brand new Corporate Partner in YouFirst Financial. Director and Associate Portfolio Manager Simon Chun joined us in playing this weekend and enjoyed meeting many of you! Like many of our Corporate Partners, Simon is enthusiastic about the growth of this sport and is proud to support squash through sponsorship with his firm. Read more about YouFirst Financial here.

A weekend filled with fun, fitness and friendship is what we aim for and like to see at all our events. Thank you once again to all the players for participating and making this event a huge success. Congratulations to all podium finishers - in the end, squash won!
