Squash Ontario is Hiring for a 1-Year Competitions Coordinator

Position Title: Competitions Coordinator

Type of Position: Contract position, covering a 1-year maternity leave, with potential for contract extension. Contract term to begin May or June 2022.

Location & Hours: Squash Ontario office at Glendon Campus, Proctor Field House, 2275 Bayview Ave, Toronto, ON M4N 3M6. 40 hours per week with schedule flexibility if needed. Some weekend event hours required.                                                                                                                 

Compensation Overview: $45,000 including three weeks vacation in addition to time off over December holidays.

The Position

Tournaments

The Competitions Coordinator will be responsible for the facilitation of roughly 50 squash tournaments throughout the season. This will include all administration leading up to junior circuit, club sanctioned, and championship tournaments prior to event day, with some event day support as needed. Administration of tournaments will include:

-        Membership and registration support

-        Creation of draws and schedules

-        Coordination of tournament equipment, souvenirs and prizes with the Tournament Host

-        Coordination of tournament referees

-        Event communications

Leagues

The Competitions Coordinator will support the administration of sanctioned squash leagues in the province. This will include:

-        The Jesters University League

-        The Extreme Squash Doubles League

-        The sanctioning of regional squash leagues (membership and Club Locker support)

Athlete Development

The Competitions Coordinator will support the Executive Director as needed to achieve Athlete Development strategic objectives throughout the squash season.

The Ideal Candidate: Squash Ontario is seeking a highly motivated team player to join Lauren Sachvie (Interim Executive Director), Zoraiz Zakir (Program Coordinator), and Alison Le Ber (School Squash Coordinator) to ensure the organization’s strategic initiatives and goals are met.  The ideal candidate will:

-        Be customer-service oriented, attending to requests in a timely manner.

-        Work well individually and collaboratively.

-        Have experience coordinating events and programs.

-        Be a current member of the Ontario squash community (player, coach, official, etc.).

-        Have a passion for growing the sport of squash.

Requirements:

-        Completed post-secondary education in a related field.

-        Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to professionally represent the provincial organizations in a multitude of environments.

-        Be well versed in the Office Suite computer programs, zoom, social media platforms and general computer literacy.

-        Have your own smart phone with wifi capabilities as we use an app for office phones.
