Squash Ontario Crowns First Provincial Champions of the Season at The University Gates Masters Championships

The University Gates Masters Championships was held this past weekend from October 21st to 23rd at the newly renovated Greystone Racquet Club in Waterloo. With a great turn out the championship had players across all divisions for Men’s & Women’s.

Spectators were treated to exceptional squash and close matches all through the weekend. The Championship was also a chance for high-performance masters to earn spots on Team Ontario at the 2023 Canadian Masters Team Championships in PEI this February.

The event was one of a kind. The organizing team did a fabulous job organizing the weekend and ensured that all the participants had a great experience. Not only did the players receive quality tournament souvenirs and prizes, but were treated to live music both evenings, wine tasting and Tap Takeover from Elora Brewing company.

Our heartfelt thanks to the title sponsor The Village at University Gates, Waterloo for their support in making this championship a huge success as well as to other sponsors - Stepping Stone Orthotics, PMR Probity Medical Research, The Case for Wine, Elora Brewing, Baden Coffee and Sibo Marketing.

Congratulations to the tournament committee consisting of Gary Waite, Nicole Garon, Ruth Ann McBride and the entire Greystone Committee who worked tirelessly to plan, coordinate and execute the weekend flawlessly.

A special shoutout to our hosts, Greystone Racquet Club, who took home the 2022 Rob Brooks Cup. Their masters players showed up and secured a number of top results in order to collect the most points over any other club!
