Position Title: Sport Development Project Coordinator

Location: Work from home with the possibility of transitioning to the Squash Ontario office at Glendon Campus, Proctor Field House, 2275 Bayview Ave, Toronto, ON M4N 3M6. Candidates living outside of the GTA are still encouraged to apply.

Contract Position(s):  This is a contract position made possible with funding from the Ontario Summer Experience Program and Canada Summer Jobs grants. We are looking for one candidate to fill both of the following contracts, however, will give consideration to candidates who can only fill one of the contracts:

-        July 12, 2021 – August 27, 2021. 37.5 hours per week at $14.25/hour. Must meet the Ontario Summer Experience Program eligibility criteria listed below.

-        September 2021 – February 2021. A total of 400 hours to be completed part-time with a negotiable schedule between 12 and 20 hours per week. Pay range is between $14.25 - $16.00/hour based on experience. Must meet the Canada Summer Jobs eligibility criteria listed below.  

The Position: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Sport Development Project Coordinator will oversee the planning, implementation and reporting of Squash Ontario’s brand-new Sport Development Initiatives including a provincial sport marketing campaign, various outreach events, and school squash programs. Projects will also include specific targets for introducing underrepresented populations to the sport. Through these initiatives and working closely with colleagues and member clubs, the Sport Development Project Coordinator will see that 5000 new players are introduced to squash during their term.

The Ideal Candidate: This is a brand-new position that will require a creative and driven person to fill the role. Given the short contract term, the ideal candidate will already have experience with social media and google advertisements, marketing and/or sales, project management, working with volunteers, and reporting. The ideal candidate will be goal oriented, innovative when solving problems, and work well individually and in collaboration with other Squash Ontario staff and member clubs.

Above all else, the candidate must have a passion for growing the sport of squash and helping Ontarians be active and social through sport.

Eligibility

Ontario Summer Experience Program Eligibility:

-        All students must be currently enrolled in a secondary, or post-secondary institution or within six months of graduation and have reached the age of 15 and not yet reached the age of 25 upon commencement of employment or up to 29 years of age for persons with a disability, within the meaning of s.10 of the Ontario Human Rights Code, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.19, as amended from time to time.

-        Proof of student enrolment must be provided to the employer.

-        Students must be residents of Ontario during the period of employment.

-        Students must be eligible to work in Canada and have a Social Insurance Number (SIN).

-        Students should be living in Ontario at the time they start work.

Canada Summer Jobs Eligibility:

-        be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;

-        be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,

-        have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
