The 2021 Bamboo Dental Ontario Closed Championships took place this past weekend at the Mayfair Parkway in Markham where close to 100 players competed in Open, A, B, C, or D draws. This was Squash Ontario’s first skill level Championship event since the courts have re-opened after the COVID shut down and it was so great to have seniors and juniors mixing together in draws.

Above all else, we were proud to host the Men’s and Women’s Open draws where Ontario’s professional players and top juniors could compete for a $5,000 prize purse. Professional level events have already started to return to Canada but it’s still no secret that it’s been a long hard couple years for squash athletes who rely on international travel and competition to support themselves. Our Ontario Closed and Ontario Open events are a chance for Squash Ontario to not only showcase our top talent, but also support these athletes as they carry on their journey to represent Ontario on the international stage.

A big thank you to Squash Ontario’s brand new corporate partner Bamboo Dental and owner Victor Lobo for sponsoring this event. Thanks to this support, we were able to provide increased value for all players. Bamboo Dental is located in Richmond Hill and is operated by Dr. Flor Malave and Victor Lobo. Bamboo Dental is pleased to offer full and exceptional personal dental care to the entire family and stives to make a patient’s experience as pleasant as possible from the moment you enter the office to the time your treatment is completed. With precision care and unrivaled compassion, you can be confident knowing that they will improve your oral health as well as your overall well-being. Bamboo Dental welcomes emergencies, walk-ins and new patients!

Also thanks to brand new Tournament Chair Cory McCartney for running a smooth event and to Tournament Referee Noman Nadeem for organizing all of our referees throughout the weekend.
