All-Girls Squash Hour at the Yorkdale Glass Court, October 23
Supported by Squash Canada and Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities, Squash Ontario will be hosting an All-Girls Squash Hour on the all-glass squash court that is temporarily placed at Yorkdale Shopping Centre.
A team of female coaches and professionals will run an hour-long squash program complete with games, drills, and skill building at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre. This is a very exciting opportunity to play on the all-glass squash court - the same court where the 2021 Oxford Properties Canadian Squash Championships is taking place from October 20-24.
According Canadian Women & Sport, one in four Canadian girls (aged 6-18) are not committed to resuming pre-pandemic sport participation levels. As sport starts to return, there is an opportunity to change the minds of girls who are not committed to return.
We are seeking girls between the ages of 6-14 who have already been introduced to squash at their home clubs or through their families, but haven’t yet started playing in sanctioned competitions like the Squash Ontario Grand Prix or Silver circuit events. These would be “bronze” event players, or players who hope to start joining tournaments later this year. All participants will receive a fun long sleeve t-shirt about squash that they can wear back at their club! Maximum 16 players.
