Squash Ontario continues to use this time away from the courts to recognize the corporate partners and individual donors that give our community the tools to grow our sport and put Ontario athletes on international podiums. This week we feature Gary Slaight of Slaight Music who over the past decade is the single largest donor to the sport in Canada and a great friend and patron of the game.
Since getting involved, Slaight Music has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to support events at the provincial, national and international level as well to junior development, doubles initiatives and also lending valuable expertise in communications, marketing and fundraising to these organizations. After receiving the 2019 Corporate Achievement Award, Slaight Music continued their annual $18,000 contribution in the 2020 season supporting the SO Provincial Training Center which provides our top professionals, university players and juniors centralized training, supporting five provincial doubles championships, and the newly formed Xtreme Squash Doubles League.
Slaight Music joins Equity Builders, The Jesters of Ontario, Travel Edge, and YDC Pro as Squash Ontario’s Platinum Corporate Partners who along with gold sponsors Forthlane Partners, Harrow Sports, Mortgage Company of Canada, and the Toronto Center for Medical Imaging provide the engine that powers Squash Ontario.
Founder and CEO Gary Slaight is a known doubles squash enthusiast and when not giving back to the sport off the court, he can be found playing five days per week with a rotating cast of characters where his trash talk is almost as prolific as his forehand reverse corner. His love of the game and the people that play it is infectious – his regular partners include legends Jonathon Power, Sam Cornett, Scott Dulmage, Nikki Todd and many more - the laughs are a first priority but are always a bit louder after a Slaight victory! Squash Ontario thanks Gary and Slaight Music for their incredible contribution to the sport of squash and for investing in the very special community we have in the province. We can’t wait to Gary and all of our players back on the court soon!
