As summer is now fully upon us and with preparations for the 2019-20 season are underway, the Squash Ontario Board and staff are taking a moment to reflect on the record breaking 2018-19 season. Huge gains were made in growing our sport with participation levels way up for the 5th year in a row, from grassroots to juniors to university to masters and doubles squash across the province.
Our athletes dominated the domestic squash landscape with double gold at the Canada Winter Games in February, 5/8 national junior champions and 7/8 junior national team members, Sam Cornett and Nick Sachvie brought the women’s and men’s national singles titles back to Ontario and large scale success occurred on the doubles and masters scenes.
We now turn our attention to returning as an international power and have invested in a series of athlete development programs that will give our top players the tools to succeed on the world stage. None of this could be possible without the incredible support of our dozens of corporate partners and individual donors whose passion for the game and belief in the power of sport have helped us to develop the leaders of tomorrow on and off the court.
