The Ontario Masters Championships kicked off a championship event lineup for the 2018/19 squash season over the weekend at Mayfair Parkway. Brand new Ontario Tournament Organizer Cole Osborne (Mayfair Parkway Head Squash Professional) welcomed over 100 masters athletes with thanks to tournament sponsors Bruce Marrison with Performance Finishing Solutions and Scott Benson. A special thanks goes to local squash heroes Mike McCue and Nick Sachvie for their exhibition match on Saturday, to Cameron’s Brewing Company for providing refreshments, and the entire Mayfair Parkway team for their flawless event hosting.
We are very proud to announce that this event keeps growing in size with each year and we hope that the momentum remains since Ontario boasts some of the best masters squash groups in the world! With several new additions like a group dinner at the Mayfair restaurant, an exhibition match with the best players in Canada, and free beer, this masters event can’t be beat!
Rob Brooks Cup Champions
In it’s third year of circulation, the Rob Brooks Cup was established to recognize and challenge club teams that joined this event. The Rob Brooks Cup is awarded to the home club with the most amount of match wins. In 2016 Mayfair Parkway was the inaugural winner of the RBC, only to have it taken to the Toronto Racquet Club in 2017. The 2018 edition of the RBC was hotly contested with Kingston Garrison Squash Club placing second with only one point off the Mayfair Parkway winners! Ottawa squash players came a close third.
