Try-It Day Canadian Inclusivity Squash Program

  • Mayfair Lakeshore 801 Lake Shore Boulevard East Toronto, ON, M4M 1B2 Canada (map)

In 2019, a squash club Newfoundland launched a highly successful program called the Canadian Inclusivity Squash Program, the first official inclusive squash program of its kind in North America. Squash Ontario will aim to duplicate this model with the support of the Jumpstart Relief Fund in 2022, with the goal to build awareness and momentum to continue as a self-sustaining program in 2021-2022 and beyond.

The Ontario chapter of CISP is launching in Toronto in December 2021 and January 2022. The launch of the CISP will be the first step in building the squash athlete pathway for athletes with disabilities in Ontario and an important piece of the national initiative.

The CISP program will offer squash lessons to anyone with a mental, emotional or physical disability. FREE Try-It Days are offered where participants can first try the sport for before signing up for the program.

Try-It Days: Saturday, December 11, 12:00 - 1:00 pm & Saturday, January 15, 12:00 - 1:00 pm

Try-It Day events will take the full hour and participants are expected to arrive and be ready to play at 12:00 pm.

The Try-It Days will be followed by an 8-week program which will take participants through all of the introductory squash shots with lessons from the coach, drill opportunities, followed by fun games. Registration for the 8-Week Program is done separately.

Equipment: It is recommended that participants bring their own squash racquet and eye-guards, but equipment will be available to borrow if needed. All participants must wear indoor non-marking court-shoes only.

Proof of Vaccination will be required for anyone 12 years of age or older.
