2021-2022 Community Sport Club Funding
Squash Ontario is pleased to be the recipient of provincial government funding aimed at providing additional COVID-19 financial relief to Member Clubs. Member Clubs have been adversely affected by this pandemic in numerous ways and both Squash Ontario and the Ministry of Heritage, Tourism, Culture and Sport hope that this additional funding will either alleviate financial burden or help kickstart return to squash plans.
This is an opt-in funding opportunity for Member Clubs in good standing of Squash Ontario. Clubs that are members of multiple Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs) are not restricted to receive funding from only one sport. Please read the below for more information, and find the application to opt-in at the bottom of this page. The deadline to complete this application is Friday, May 6th at 11:59 p.m.
Background Information
The Ministry of Heritage, Tourism, Culture and Sport has made a further investment in community sport as a result of the past two years being incredibly challenging as we have had to navigate through unprecedented times, including multiple instances of closures to the facilities that house activities that we all deliver. In light of these circumstances, for 2021-2022 only, Squash Ontario was eligible to receive $314,300.12 of provincial funding, to be dispersed in support of member squash clubs across the province.
Requirements
Must be a Member in good standing with Squash Ontario as of March 31, 2022
Must be able to demonstrate incurred COVID-19 related expenses to operate programs during the COVID-19 pandemic such as:
Increased operating costs directly related to the pandemic (e.g. the costs of purchasing personal protective equipment);
Reduction of members and membership revenue during the pandemic;
Increased facility costs required to comply with the Reopening Ontario Act, 2020 and its regulations; or
Operating deficits to maintain programming for fewer participants.
Must be able to demonstrate that squash activity at the club has been reinstated or demonstrate plans to reinstate squash activity if not already started.
Funding Amount
The total amount of funding available is $314,300.12. Amount of funding allocated to each club is based on the number of paid-up courts as at March 31, 2022, membership type (Traditional vs. Project 10K Membership) and the overall number of applicants seeking funding. At a minimum, Member Clubs can expect $1,509 per court with a Project 10K Membership and $845 per court with a Traditional Membership.
