Frequently Asked Questions
Our league uses international scoring to 9, do we need to change?
No immediate change is needed, both scoring systems are still sanctioned.
Do the results for tournaments played with international scoring still count towards my and ranking?
Yes, the results still count the same.
Does this mean all play needs to be PAR 11?
No, all play does not need to be PAR 11, international scoring to 9 is still an option for tournaments and leagues, however most will likely use the primary PAR 11 scoring.
If the scoring is not stated on the entry form or tournament information, what will be used?
If there is no information to the contrary, contact the Tournament Organizer
Regulations
Squash Ontario sanctions over 100 tournaments each season. We offer
events for men, women and juniors and in skill and age levels from
Open to beginner - from junior to masters. Also offered are doubles
and mixed doubles events.
The annual Provincial Championships recognize the best junior,
senior, doubles, and mixed doubles players in Ontario in all age
categories and skill levels, and the best junior provincial team.
Tournaments, whether they be at the open level or the E, are an
integral component of an athlete's development by providing a yardstick
by which a player can measure their skill level and their competitive
progress.
Participating in tournaments also provides an opportunity for players
to compete in various facilities across the province and to enjoy
the wonderful camaraderie always present at these events.
Tournament Terms
An "open" event means that entry is open to any player who is a member in good standing of his or her provincial or national squash association. For example, a member in good standing of Squash Alberta could participate in the Ontario Open Championships.
A "closed" event means that entry is limited to residents of the province of Ontario. For example, in order to participate in the Ontario Masters Closed Championships, a person must be resident in Ontario.

Eye Protection
All players competing in a Provincial Championship must appropriately
wear eyeguards made of polycarbonate or similar materials designed
for protection in sport.
Defaults
Anyone defaulting from the Ontario Open or Ontario Closed Championships
and who would be eligible to receive prize money, will not receive
that prize money unless a doctor's note is presented to the tournament
chair or a representative of Squash Ontario the day of the defaulted

If the default is due to injury, the player must (a) advise the Tournament Chair that he/she will not be playing the match and (b) submit a doctor's note to Squash Ontario within 5 business days following the completion of the event.
No refunds are given once the draws are done. Refunds will only be issued before the draws have been completed and will subject to a 15% admin fee.
Recognition as Provincial Championship
In order to be recognized as a Provincial Championship, there must
be a minimum of 6 players/teams in an event, with a minimum of 25%
of the players being from outside the host club. An exception to
this policy is made in the men's and women's 60+, 65+ and 70+ where
there must be a minimum of 4 players/teams with a minimum of 25%
of the players/teams being from outside the club.
