Squash Ontario Charity Golf Classic

On Saturday August 25th, 2007, Squash Ontario hosted its 6th Annual Charity Golf Classic on the beautiful North Course of Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham, Ontario.  An enthusiastic 120 golfers came out to support the Lee Hanebury Junior Squash Fund.

This event has become a much-anticipated annual event for squash players in Ontario and it has grown significantly since its inception.  Squash Ontario wishes to thank Mark Sachvie – Squash Ontario Junior Advisory Committee Chair, Lolly Gillen – Squash Ontario President, Rob Brooks – Squash Ontario Past President and Geoffrey Johnson – Squash Ontario Administrative Coordinator for their outstanding efforts to make this day so successful.  We would also like to thank Marc Leger - Squash Ontario Program Coordinator who assisted with the Par 3 Fundraiser and Christina Wilby who was our Official Photographer for the event.

The incredible support we enjoyed from golfers, sponsors and those who sponsored holes resulted in raising $8,400 for junior squash in Ontario.  We couldn’t have done it without you!  Below is a list of everyone who gracefully donated something to the Squash Ontario Charity Golf Classic.  

The money raised through this event is dedicated to junior squash activities in Ontario.  If you ever wondered if your donation is valued and important, following is an excerpt of a letter Squash Ontario recently received,

"My daughter has participated in many of your tournaments, particularly at White Oaks and Fabulous Fitness.  These experiences have not only improved her squash but they have also helped her mature as a young woman.

We would like to show our thanks for all the kindness we have received from the Squash Ontario family by making a small contribution to the Lee Hanebury Fund.  We understand that Lee was an extraordinary woman and that the fund is entirely for the benefit of junior squash in Ontario."

Lee Hanebury was indeed an extraordinary woman who devoted countless hours at the squash courts with her two young sons, Brad and Chris.  Her family and squash lost Lee at too young an age but her family expressed a desire for Squash Ontario to set up a fund in Lee’s name to help promote and grow junior squash in the province.  We have honoured that request.
