For Battle of the Borders Team and for Team Ontario

 

  • BATTLE OF THE BORDERS

September 5 – 6 – 7, 2008                            The Club at White Oaks, Niagara-on-the-Lake

 

Qualifications Required

2 male, 2 female coaches/managers

Coaching positions require Level 3 or part level 3 coaching certification

Managing positions require Level 2 or part l 2 coaching certification

Experience coaching in a high performance team environment

Experience in coaching junior high performance athletes

Must currently be running an active junior program

 

Responsibilities

Coaching 24 players from under 13 to under  19 (12 girls, 12 boys)

To arrive at The Club at White Oaks by 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 5th

 

Compensation

Accommodation for 2 nights (Friday, Saturday)

Meal package

$400.00 honorarium

 

Notes

  • Coaches and managers  may be subject to police screening
  • Coaches and managers will sign a Coach’s  or Manager’s Agreement with Squash Ontario

  • TEAM ONTARIO

October 2008 – March 2009

 

Team Ontario is an important component of the 4 year Canada Games Program.

 

We now enter the second year of the Canada Games cycle, beginning with the identification of Team Ontario.  Team Ontario is comprised of 12 athletes, six boys and six girls, all of whom are eligible to compete in the 2011 Canada Winter Games. 

 

Year one and two are Team Ontario years and the Junior Advisory Committee has selected the 12 athletes for 2007-2008 who have met both the eligibility and selection criteria.

 

Squash Ontario is seeking two dedicated and committed coaches, one male and one female, who want to be part of the Canada Games program.

 

Qualifications

  • Level 3 certification (we will consider applications from Level 2 coaches who commit to completing their level 3 certification by March 31st 2009) * please note that any coach attending the Canada Winter Games must be fully certified at level 3.
  • Experience in coaching within a team environment
  • Experience in coaching junior high performance athletes
  • Must currently be running an active junior program

 

Responsibilities

  • Availability to travel to specific events to coach (2009 Canadian Junior Closed
  • Hold two training sessions with team members (dates have been set by the Junior Advisory Committee and are December 6 and 7 and April 4 and 5)
  • Maintain monthly contact with Team Members to build and foster an esprit de corps
  • Liaise with Team Ontario personal coaches
  • Provide semi-annual written report to the Junior Advisory Committee

Remuneration

 

                            For training sessions:                                50.00/hour

Position Summary:

 

As a member of the Athletics Department, the Head Squash Professional is responsible for:

 

  • The day-to-day operation of the Squash Section, including delivery of programs and coordination of professionals and contract service providers
  • Implementing policies and providing expert professional advice to Club Management and the Squash Committee
  • The development and delivery of a variety of quality athletic and recreational services and programs

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Demonstrated history of success in a similar role including:
    • Coaching all ages and skill levels
    • House League organization
    • Grassroots and high-performance junior development
    • Tournament organization
  • Experience managing other staff and contractors
  • Professional certification to Squash Canada Level 3 or willingness to obtain certification
  • Impressive squash playing resume
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, computer and customer service skills including  diplomacy and tact in  dealing with members
  • Ability to manage multiple programs, tournaments and events

Overview

To provide new and existing members with the opportunity to improve their squash game through lessons, clinics, tournaments, leagues and social nights.  Also provide a pleasant atmosphere where members can meet new and existing members for pleasurable exercise.  Must be flexible with schedule, as hours will fluctuate with the season, and will also be dependent on scheduled tournaments and league dates.

Major Responsibilities

Responsible for providing ongoing exceptional service to all members and the coordination of  leagues, Round Robins, Ladders, Women’s, Beginners, Junior Programs and Socials.

SQUASH CLUB PRO/MANAGER

 

The 46 year old Kitchener Waterloo Racquet Club (a men’s only doubles & singles squash club of +/- 150 members) is seeking applicants for the full time position of  Professional/Club Manager with a start date of September 1, 2008.

Reporting to the Club’s Board of Directors, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Club, including the food and beverage service; organizing and implementing house league and tournaments; general club services; membership tours; assist in expanding the membership base and provide lessons to the membership.

The successful candidate will have strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, good decision making ability and will be proficient in squash play and coaching with a minimum Intermediate NCCP certification.  Previous experience in the food service/hospitality industry would be an asset.
